Oil of Thieves

Thieves is a Young Living blend of oils containing clove, cinnamon, lemon, eucalyptus, and rosemary. It has hundreds of healing and preventive applications.

The Thieves Range…..for everything from mould infestation to underarm deodorant to ticks!!!

Artemis writes:

One of the most popular essential oil blends in Young Living is “Thieves”. It is based on a formula of essential oils that a band of 4 thieves used during the black plague in the 15th Century, in order to protect themselves from becoming sick.

It’s highly antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal….and very effective against black mould.

Because of its natural disinfecting properties, Young Living has created a whole product line containing Thieves. This includes:

  • Thieves Dentarome Ultra toothpaste (superb for naturally whitening teeth, with natural antibacterial action…..and it tastes really nice too!!!)
  • Thieves Dentarome (and Dentarome Plus) toothpaste. A small amount under the arms works brilliantly as a natural deodorant, and is the most effective and natural deodorant I’ve discovered. By “small amount”, I mean about half of the size of your little fingernail when it’s cut short…..if you use too much, the peppermint oil will feel like it’s biting you!

·         Thieves mouthwash….great for gargling when we have a sore throat, or just for extra fresh breath.
·         Thieves dental floss…..the healthy way to floss
·         Thieves Household cleaner. I use this for cleaning the oven, architraves, and floors…..we’ve even asked our professional carpet cleaner to use it instead of his chemicals). We recently had a bad black mold infestation in a friend’s home. We recommended they put Thieves cleaner neat on a cloth, with a few drops of Thieves oil on top, to wipe over the mold….and voila!!!! It’s all gone, and hasn’t come back.
·         Thieves Foaming Hand Soap (I have one near every tap in our house….and it’s great for cleaning cooktops as well!)
·         Thieves Spray (I find that a spray of this in my mouth at the first sign of a sore throat will usually stop it from developing). I’ve also used it for killing off aphids on roses (sprayed liberally…..and in the case of my roses, the aphids never came back!). And it’s been wonderful for removing whiteboard pen off whiteboards and cleaning them so they look brand new!
·         Thieves Waterless Hand Purifier…..I keep a bottle at all times in my handbag to use at public washrooms, rather than using chemical-laden soaps.
·         Thieves Cleansing Soap…one of Young Living’s yummy soaps….I’d be using this one if I had acne or other skin infections (eg. fungal infections), because of its antiseptic qualities.
·         Thieves Wipes (another great one for the handbag or car, to wipe off dirty surfaces, or to disinfect)
·         And of course, Thieves oil…..great in the diffuser during cold and flu season. I also use it under the feet or up the spine when I am working on sick dogs or horses (or humans!!!).

Hello again!
It’s me with another product idea. I just wanted to share. When I am getting ready to eat store bought fruit, I wash my hands with Thieves hand foaming hand soap, then I wash my fruit with it. I feel much better about eating it and it leaves no soap taste on the fruit.

Also, have you ever wondered what to do with those empty foaming hand soap bottles? I put my Thieves household cleaner in them with the proper amount of water and then all you have to do is squirt it on your sponge or whatever you use to clean with…. there it is at your fingertips with no mixing.
And last but not least…the Thieves waterless hand sanitizer and Thieves Spray work great on your animals if they have a tick attached to them… one little squirt or drop and the tick will let go. One more thing about the spray… ever since I was a child, I have had earaches. Now when I have one, I use the Thieves spray on and under my ear [not inside] and my earache is gone in minutes. I actually got that one right out of the Essential Oils Desk Reference when I had a bad earache. Well that’s it for now… hope you can use some of these ideas! I love Young Living products!

Hi Margarete,

Here are 2 instances that might give them some ideas. Both were simple and effective.

My friend had a leak in her roof and the attic of her house was inundated with mold everywhere. She took 2 diffusers and 2 bottles of thieves oil, closed off the air vents to seal the area and turned on the diffusers. She let them run till all the oil was gone from both bottles. She kept it closed up for a few days. Mold was destroyed and she has not had a problem since.

With me, I had purchased an older home and in the repairing found black mold inbetween the walls when we took some of the old drywall down I could still smell mold in the hallway even after painting and such. So I took my diffuser, attached a large straw from a fast food resturant to the end of the glass nebulizer with tape, got myself a bottle of thieves eo and a ladder. I took a screwdriver and drilled a small hole in the drywall inbetween 2 studs set the diffuser on
the ladder and pushed the end of the straw thru the hole. Then I diffused into the wall cavity for about 15-20 minutes, then moved to the next space between the studs. I did this till I thought I had covered the area I smelled the mold. I then went back with a little spackling and repaired the little holes to seal it in. Voila no more mold smell and it has been 3 years now and it has not returned (and the house is in North Carolina with all that humidity!.) So much easier than tearing down all that drywall and spreading the mold everywhere.

So there are our stories. But I was thinking, what if you took a garden sprayer, you know the pump up kind with a wand, filled it with water, added a cup of thieves cleaner and half a bottle of thieves eo, and gave everything a good spray, closed it up and let it set for a while. I think then you could go and clean up without the mold affecting your health. Just an idea. I hope they find an answer.

Thieves Bug Spray

Noel writes:

I am currently renovating a 1970’s house and found evidence of cockroaches in hard-to-get-at places. I mixed up a “thieves bug spray” in a spray bottle, sprayed the affected area, job’s done, they won’t be back. I know this will work in kitchen cupboards too, instead of the annual pest spray. Sure, my spray contains ethanol….but the half-life of the pesticides used in the average kitchen cupboard is 20yrs whilst the Methylated Spirits flashes off in an hour or less.
▪ 1 litre of Methylated Spirits
▪ 1 Bottle of Thieves oil.
Pour into a spray bottle, shake, and spray. Works for mold as well, much faster than a diffuser. Requires breathing apparatus in enclosed areas.

Mould

Did you know that Thieves oil works amazingly well for Black Mould as well?

Here is a testimonial from www.oil-testimonials.com website (just click on “search”, type in your keyword, and away you go!!!)
Katie writes:

Diffusing Thieves oil has helped me conquer the mold problem I was having in my bathroom. I first cleaned up the walls as best I could. Then diffused the Thieves oil for at least 24 hours in the bathroom. I kept the bathroom door closed to keep the diffusion in the bathroom.

It has been 5 months and there is no sign of the mold! Before I did this diffusion process I was cleaning this funky mold off the walls twice a week.

Groundbreaking Research from Young Living Scientist

Sue Chao, director of Young Living’s Quality Control Laboratory, has been working with Gary Young for more than a decade studying the chemical compositions of essential oils. I recently listened to her lecture about one of her latest experiments studying the effects of essential oils on methicillin-resistant staphylococcus, or MRSA.

MRSA is an infection caused by a bacteria often referred to as “staff.” Most MRSA infections occur in healthcare settings such as hospitals and nursing homes. This general type of bacteria is resistant to many antibiotics and can be fatal to those with weakened immune symptoms.
Sue’s explained that there are many types of MRSA bacteria, and her study focused on Staphylococcus aureus. During her study, Sue grew these bacteria in dozens of Petri dishes. Once the bacteria were visible in the dish, Sue placed a few drops of oil on a piece of paper and placed the diffuser in the middle of the culture. Sue repeated this experiment with 91 single essential oils and 64 Young Living blends.
Ofthe 91 single essential oils, 78 killed the bacteria all at varying degrees. Sue said lemongrass, lemon myrtle, mountain savory, cinnamon, and melissa essential oils had the highest levels of inhibition. Of the 64 Young Living Therapeutic Grade™ blends that were tested, 52 proved effected against the bacteria with R.C.™, Motivation™, and Longevity™ having the highest level of inhibition.
With so many types of MRSA bacteria and so many means of essential oil delivery (taken orally, diffusion, topical, etc.), Sue was quick to mention that her research is only the beginning in discovering what effects essential oils have on MRSA. Sue also added that this research was conducted on a specific strand of MRSA in a controlled environment; the effects on other MRSA strains are not known.
Interested in reading more? Sue’s article on essential oils and MRSA is published in volume 23 of the Flavour and Fragrance Journal (2008, pages 444–449).

Learning about this research was one of the most exciting things for me, as a Registered Nurse, in my 12 years with Young Living!
My clinical experience has been in the Intensive Care Unit where MRSA was a huge issue (now it is rampid in health care facilities) – and in my private practice and consultation work I have many clients come to me with this concern – and to know that we, in Young Living, have something that can address this problem – is monumental! I always reference Sue Chow’s research too.
I can actually remember sitting in convention a few years ago when Sue presented this on stage – and my mouth literally dropped open – I thought “this is so big! I really wonder if others see how huge this is” and I looked around the room looking and praying that folks were really getting how big this is – I know now so many us appreciate the extreme value that we have in our Young Living oils against these Super Bugs like MRSA – we are going to save soooo many lives!

MRSA (Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus) has now become CMRSA or Community based MRSA. Although spread is not restricted to children (I know of a paramedic who was hospitalized with a particularly virulent form after contact with a patient during transport) parents and school personnel need to become more aware of the problem. Evidence has shown that with many cases of CMRSA the person has recently been in a medical setting such as a physician’s office.
Emphasis for prevention of spread of MRSA has been primarily on the importance of handwashing. Not enough emphasis is placed upon not sharing towels used to dry hands after handwashing; use separate towels or paper towels, properly disposed of. Adequate washing of linens and clothing is important; I add a capful of Thieves cleaner to each tub of laundry.
Public places and items that are touched by many people (think sink faucets, door knobs, railings, telephones, computer keyboards, etc.) are common sources of spread.
Gyms, public or school, are particularly a common source for spread of MRSA. Think contact of any body part, not just hands. Proper cleaning of all exercise equipment, including mats used for wrestling, before and after use, can go a long way to prevent spread. Wiping down equipment using Thieves cleaner, in your own spray bottle, or Thieves wipes, is a great intervention. Although hand sanitizers are restricted in some schools (primarily Elementary; the concern is with ingestion), I recommend that Thieves hand sanitizer be carried and used.

It is most important for people to know that MRSA is spread not only by direct contact but can become aerolized, spread through the air and therefore found on any surface as well as in the air you breathe. I always carry RC with me. Use frequently when in public places.

Also think AC systems. Although you may have no direct control over the AC in public places (protect yourself with RC), change AC filters in your home monthly. I also sprinkle Purification on my filter. After reading about Sue Chow’s experiments I now know there are several other oils that might be used.

Staph Aureus is also VRSA (Vancomycin-resistant Staphlococcus Aureus). There are other organisms, such as C. dif and Pseudomonas, that are now commonly found in hospital and nursing home settings that have become antibiotic resistant as well.

To prevent spread of MRSA and other organisms, it is not just personnel in the medical field that need to be educated regarding prevention and spread. The public needs to be better informed as well.

Knowledge is power and the Young Living family has the power and, thanks to Gary Young, an arsenal of powerful oils to help in dealing with these antibiotic resistant organisms.

This is a very informative article & I too am glad to see it. I suffer with reoccurring staff infection on my shin. I have used the R.C. and at times an Oregano blend. This has worked wonderfully. I cannot take antibiotics because of having Ulcerative Colitus, so these oils were a life saver for me. Thank you very much for these oils.

My brother in law who was hospitalized recently contracted MRSA while in the hospital and all who visited him had to wear protective outerwear. The care center allowed visitation by pets, and my dog being very close to my brother in law, visited him, and sat on the bed while Tom pet him. I was a little concerned that the MRSA might be transmitted by the dog, so I used Thieves as a protection for myself as well as the dog. The family liked the smell so well, they all made it a practice to use the oil while visiting. We wore Thieves oil like perfume and sprayed it on our hands and the dog. No one contracted MRSA from their visits even when protective clothing was not worn. Thieves is a marvelous oil, which I hope will included in future studies.

A friend had MRSA for 3 years and the doctors said they had done all they could. When I met her she had boils all over her body and she was in terrible pain and VERY ill. She started using Thieves, R.C. and Lavender. A year or so later she was free of MRSA! She put Thieves and Lavender on the boils and made tea with the R.C.
She is now on Ningxia Red-hopefully this will increase her wellness and boost her immune system.
THANK YOU GARY for providing us with these BLESSED essential oils!

3. Thieves: All Purpose Miracle Oil
by Gloria Miller

In Dec 2008, my friend’s elderly mother (85-yrs-old) was taken to the hospital with severe abdominal pains. Tests showed that her appendix had burst, but was still “encapsulated.” The doctor did not want to operate immediately because of her age, and kept her in the hospital for a few days, under observation.

When I heard of this, I offered my friend a bottle of Thieves® essential oil blend, and told her how to apply a drop of Thieves mixed with a drop of olive oil over her mother’s appendix area. She did that, and the doctor was surprised to see her mother’s daily blood tests showed that the infection was diminishing, so he sent her mother home with orders to return in 2 wks.

”Mom” kept applying the Thieves at home, and at every bi-weekly Dr visit, she was pain-free, and no infection was found. The Dr still insisted upon seeing her every 2 wks, and kept ordering various and sundry tests, but also delayed scheduling surgery.

Once the pain had stopped, Mom stopped applying Thieves. After a few months, she came down with a very bad painful sore throat, so my friend made a Dr appointment for her. When I learned about the sore throat, I suggested having Mom rub Thieves on her neck and chest.

By now, my friend had mixed Thieves with olive oil in a recycled Thieves bottle, and was supplying it to her mother that way. A few days later, when they were able to get in to see her doctor, Mom was feeling fine. No sign of strep, which is what her physician had suspected she had.
All this time, every 2-3 weeks they were traveling back and forth from their small town to the big city — an hour’s drive each way — for doctor appointments, and Mom was submitting to more and more tests.

In September of 2009, one test showed a “spot” on Mom’s pancreas (she is a diabetic.) Once again, I suggested having Mom apply Thieves — this time over her pancreas. The doctor wanted to do surgery, but my friend and her mother put him off, and Mom started applying Thieves over her pancreas area. Subsequent tests showed the spot decreasing, and within a few months it was gone.

”Mom” absolutely LOVES the Thieves blend (she receives it from her daughter already mixed with olive oil), and uses it on everything from her arthritic knees to sore muscles. She uses it to get rid of headaches and clear her sinuses. She puts it on the soles of her feet at bedtime. As her daughter says, “She practically bathes in it! If I didn’t dilute it with olive oil, she’d go through a bottle every week.”

”Mom” still has her appendix, no surgery has been done on her, and none is scheduled.

The doctor, of course, is mystified — but he won’t ask, and doesn’t seem to want to know, if mom is doing anything special.

Mould and other Thieves uses

Rhonda writes: Dear Artemis, I love reading the testimonials and product uses. I reuse the Thieves foaming hand soap bottles by filling them with household cleaner and keeping them near the kitchen sink. I use it neat to wipe out the greasy sink, then discard the old dirty dishcloth. I have also used it on our bathroom ceiling which had become covered with furry black mould. Over a number of months, I used a paint roller every time I took a shower I painted the ceiling with neat household cleaner.  The mould initially went brown and the ceiling paint did peel but we have managed to reduce the problem. I no longer need to apply the oils and the mould has not reappeared. Kind regards, Rhonda

Artemis adds: This is a great tip! Thanks Rhonda. Also, Thieves oil when diffused in the bathroom for 48 hours (refilling several times a day as needed) is exceptional for killing off black mould. Although I was taught that technically a nebulising-style diffuser should be used (this doesn’t use water – just the essential oil), I was recently told that someone had successfully killed off the mould in their bathroom with an ultrasonic diffuser (which does use water). Personally, I add 20 drops of oil to my ultrasonic diffuser, or 30 drops to my nebulising-style diffuser. Also, you may remember reading that my husband successfully killed off mould by mixing Thieves oil with methylated spirits, and spraying that over the mould.

Terrie writes: I was advised to diffuse both Thieves and Melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree oil) for mould. I’ve been doing it for one week, miracles!!!! I am using the Therapro diffuser (not yet available in Australia). Blessings, Terrie

Caroline shares: Hi Artemis, Thieves oil is so versatile and we are using it for everything from cleaning to sore throats, colds, chests rub and now cooking.
I’d like to share my Gluten free cake recipe with Thieves oil. Kind regards, Caroline

·         Hand blend dry ingredients including dried fruit and add to wet ingredients mix well
·         Add fresh fruit last

Tin – bake in loaf tin or cake cooks better and more evenly in a small bread tin

Bake – oven approx. 180 deg C (356 Fahrenheit) or 155-160 C (311 to 320 Fahrenheit) fan forced for 45-60 mins (I cook in a fan forced oven for approx 55 mins).

Artemis adds: With Xmas fast approaching, this is the perfect time to receive this recipe. Did you know that because Young Living’s oils are guaranteed to be pure and unadulterated, many of them are safe to cook with. You’ll just be amazed at how little oil you need to flavour a whole dish!!! I’ve destroyed many a lovely dish by adding too many drops…..so I’ve learned that less is better when cooking with oils.

Nasty Cut – Thieves and Melrose oil

Monika writes: Hi Artemis, what a great idea to bring us a newsletter about the animals. I always enjoy all the testimonials. For a while I wanted to write about my experience with the oils and one of my horses. I found him one morning with a huge triangular cut on his front leg. He had shaved the skin off and the cut was about 20cm wide at the top and the skin flap was hanging there. When I touched the flap it was cold, which meant no circulation. After considering my option of ringing the vet and what he could do I decided to use my own healing kit.

I started with Thieves oil in Manuka Honey and smeared it all over the wound and under the flap. I had some healing clay. So I watered it down and put Thieves into it. That went on top to keep the flies off and the wound clean. I couldn’t bandage it and think it was good to let the sunlight do some healing too. After the first day the flap was warm. I couldn’t believe it, there was circulation again!!! I did this treatment every day for 3 days. Then I met you and you suggested I use Melrose as well. So now I’ve added Melrose to my mix. After about 10 days the wound was healed together, the flap attached itself except for a tiny bit that fell off. Now you can barely see that he had an injury.

I was absolutely thrilled with the result. And by the way, he didn’t like me touching his wound the first time. But from the second day he stood there for me, I didn’t even need a halter. I think the oils took away the pain as well and he knew that. Kind regards Monika

Artemis adds: Although Monika hasn’t mentioned what proportions she’s used, when I’m diluting oils in any type of carrier (in this case Manuka Honey or healing clay), I’d be using 3 to 5 drops of essential oil in a teaspoon of honey or healing clay.

Tumour and Bone Pain

Rose-marie writes: I recently re-invested in the Young Living Oils. For the past six months I have had a troubling tumour in my leg. Within one month of applying Thieves oil – one drop three times a day on the area – it has finally disappeared. I also applied Panaway – one drop three times a day on the bone which was the cause of the tumour – which not only eased the pain completely, but also repaired as the blood finally flowed through correctly! Miracles happen with Living Oils!

Paralysis Tick on a Toy Poodle, “DJ”

Karen writes: August 2010: My recent experiences have been with my Toy Poodle, DJ.  DJ got ill last week and I didn’t know what was wrong with him. DJ is 11 ½ years old. Of course Wednesday being Show holiday (and he wasn’t in any distress) I decided a check-up with the Vet the next day would be a good idea.  Unfortunately DJ got a lot worst on Wednesday night and so we were at the vet first thing Thursday. It turned out he had a tick. It took us ages to find it (it was hiding in his eyebrow) and his symptoms were not absolutely clear at first. (His was the first tick of the season).

DJ then needed to have the Tick anti-venom, heavy sedation and monitoring for nearly 3 days. His heart was affected and part of his face was paralysed. The vet was wonderful. They allowed me each day to massage Peace & Calming (calming) and Valor (strengthening) onto his paws and Purification (purifying and cleansing) along his back. When he came home on Saturday, I immediately started him on 2 Tablespoons of the Ningxia Red (powerful antioxidant with Wolfberries to help eliminate toxins) and Thieves blend (antiviral, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and of course it’s good for teeth and gums!!)  I put it into his favourite food – B.A.R.F. (raw meat and vegetables), and he is happy. His right eye is back to normal and his face is almost there also. In fact he seems to be back to his happy normal self. I still need to try and keep him quiet (not easy with poodles!!) and will continue his regimen until I go for a check-up next week!

October 2010: DJ has been given a clean Bill of Health from the Vet.  They have even commented on his lovely breath and the health of his Gums!  (Thieves oil – I put a drop or two into his dog food, and he gets the tablespoon of the NingXia Red in it as well.)

Teething Babies

Melanie writes: Hi Artemis, just wanted to share with all the mums and dads out there about the wonders of Thieves oil for teething babies. When my baby boy first started teething I diluted Thieves oil and put one drop on a teething toothbrush which he uses to massage his gums. The change in him occurs almost immediately. He also never gets any other symptoms that usually come with teething (fevers, gastro, red cheeks, runny nose)….NOTHING. I have worked in childcare for many years and have never seen a child cope with teething as well as my boy. I completely thank Thieves for this. I also use it on him when we are going to be around a lot of people, or children, or have children in our home (I diffuse it in the room, as it is supposed to ward off bad bacteria). Very happy to say that my boy is 14 months old and has never been sick. Not even a runny nose. Never even been to the doctor. He has definitely been exposed to infections but is always under the protection of thieves. I have loved these oils ever since I first started using them, but even more now that I am a mother. I even have a box of oils that are already diluted just for him, so they are ready for when I need them. Do I even need to mention he has slept through the night since 6 weeks thanks to peace and calming and lavender? xxx

Artemis adds: Melanie is right – Thieves oil is very anti-infectious. If you look up the listing of blends in your Essential Oils Desk Reference, you will discover that Thieves oil showed at 99.96% kill rate against gram negative Pseudomonas aeruginosa after just 12 minutes of diffusing, and a 99.3% kill rate against Micrococcus luteus after 20 minutes of diffusing. Need I say more?

Underarm Odour and Burns

Jackie writes: Hello Artemis, thank you so much for your sharing – especially the bulletin on the use of Dentarome Plus toothpaste as an underarm deodorant – it is fantastic! This so has saved the messy bicarb I was using, and the Dentarome Plus lasts so much longer as an anti-deodorant.

I’m so gratful for the Young Living information being passed around. I am a masseuse and last night I very badly burnt the base of two fingers as I thoughtlessly picked up a saucepan lid which was very hot. I know it would have badly blistered, meaning a least a few days off work. I immediately ran my hand under the cold tap thinking, “Oh no, I will not be able to work.” Remembering a story about lavender and the scientist, I ran to the oils, applying the lavender each time there was pain. Well this morning I can see where the burn is due to the tight skin with skin discolouring, but there’s no blistering, no pain, and another days work to be done. Thank you Gary and thank you Artemis!!!

Artemis adds: If you’ve only recently joined our oils bulletin, you are probably thinking we are totally crazy using toothpaste as an underarm deodorant. However, the Dentarome Plus toothpaste contains bicarb of soda, along with some powerful essential oils. The oils are the “Thieves” recipe, which a band of 4 thieves used during the 15th century to protect themselves from the black plague. So this wonderful product (the Dentarome Plus toothpaste) has a lovely consistency – you only need to use about a half a little fingernail’s worth of it, and that will cover both underarms. If you use too much, the peppermint oil in it will feel like it’s “biting” you for about 10 minutes! I find it lasts me all day as an underarm deodorant, even in the sweatiest weather. However – as a toothpaste, I prefer Dentarome Ultra. So I keep both products in my bathroom – one for my underarms, one for my teeth! Also, Jackie refers to a scientist. This is Rene Gattefosse, a french industrial chemist who burnt his arm severely in a lab explosion in the early 1920’s. He plunged his arm into a vat of lavender oil and it healed without a scar. He then devoted his life to researching essential oils, and coined the word “aromatherapy”.

Rash on a Cat

Artemis writes: Lana originally wrote to me with the following question:

Lana writes: A few weeks ago my cat was left at home with my housemates (including 2 guys that had friends over that day). When I got home in the evening he had a whole bunch of hair missing under his right armpit and running down his legs, and what looked like little sores. I took him to the vet and she said he had probably stuck his leg in the collar trying to get out and hurt himself that way (I have taken that collar off him now)…anyway…she recommended salty warm water washes (I didn’t want to use cortisone cream)…anyway I am wondering if I can put Thieves on him (maybe Melrose as well)…I thought I should ask you in case there is any danger for a cat (especially if he tries to lick it after)…and if you could tell me safe proportions etc……

Here was my reply: Hi Lana, all the literature on oils for cats says that the hot oils and citrus oils are toxic to cats, so I’ve always avoided oils (especially ones like Thieves). However, at Convention in the USA , I was speaking to a vet (Melissa Shelton), and she has been having her clients give mini Raindrop Techniques to their cats, with no ill effects (recipe is 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil like V6 with 2 drops of each of the Raindrop Technique oils – massage that up the cat’s spine)….and she’s given capsules of Oregano oil (although you’d want to be extremely careful with this, as it’s a very hot oil!!!) Giving cats oils like these is totally contrary to the literature, and of course they are using YL oils. Melrose oil is gentler than Thieves, so it’s the one I’d be experimenting with, alongside of Lavender oil too. Alternatively spray with Lavaderm spray – very gentle, contains lavender and aloe vera, from YL.

Two weeks later, Lana writes: Hi Artemis, just some feedback. The day I sent this email I diluted 1 drop of Thieves oil with some luke warm water and put it over the mentioned area. The next day all the scabs were gone. This is after 2 weeks of salt water washes and nothing much happening apart from even more sores for some reason. They are still gone. The hair is still missing and I am hoping the hair will just grow back eventually.

Watery Lumps and Scratches on Dogs

Cindy writes: Hi Artemis, I had my puppy (lab/mastiff cross) spayed, everything was going great or incision looked good until she played a little rough outside.  At the incision site she began to develop a watery lump.  At first it was small then within 24 hours it was the size of an egg and very warm.  I called the Vet and he told me to keep watching it and bring her in if the fever in it did not go away.  I started putting Exodus ll diluted in Fractionated Coconut oil on it 3 times daily, and gave her some NingXia Red juice.  The next morning the fever was gone so I called the Vet – told him what I was using and that the fever was gone.  He said God put healing power in the oils and to keep using them.  Within 3-4 days the lump had reduced by more than 1/2 in size.  She is now her old self and there is not any sign of a scar, you wouldn’t even know she was spayed.

Infertility and Oil of Thieves
“I just wanted to give you a testimonial to add on Thieves. I was told that I would probably never be able to have children because of severe endometriosis. I did have a son after surgery to be able to become pregnant. He is now six. Since then the doctors have wanted to perform a hysterectomy, which I have refused.
“Back in April I was applying Thieves to the bottom of my feet once a day for a cold, not knowing that it was also good for infertility. I am now 6 1/2 months pregnant with a baby girl.
”I have told a number of people about the miracle that Thieves has given me. My girlfriend who was also trying to get pregnant for two years is now almost four months pregnant after applying Thieves during her first month.
“I hope that this testimonial helps all those woman out there that are trying so desperately to conceive. Thank you.” – Michelle

I just got this in .. .
I have been to many acupuncturists and naturopaths before , but I have never had the successes that I have experienced with Heather Bruce anywhere before.

I had an abscess on my tooth and it was almost as big as a ten cent piece and very painful. Heather gave me this thieves spray to put on the abscess and she told me that it would kill any infection of any kind and would most likely fix this within one day.  IMMEDIATELY I USED IT ALL THE PAIN (ALL THE PAIN!!) DISAPPEARED.

True to her word after using the Thieves spray that Heather gave me the following day the abscess was practically gone. It was a miracle and far better than any antibiotic could ever be for this problem.

I also suffer from severe gum infection and I have to go to the dentist every six weeks for a deep root clean otherwise I will lose all of my teeth. I had many black spots on my gums. After the success with the abscess I decided to regularly use the Thieves on my gums morning and night. After a month of using the Thieves on my last visit to the dentist he could not believe the difference in my gums and was so surprised and asked me what I had been doing.  Instead of black gums, there is currently just two little spots – and they are getting smaller with each day.

I told the dentist ” Oh I am getting really good treatment from this acupuncturist healing lady “…..

Every household should have this stuff in their cupboard , it is so powerful and potent and it really really works.
Hot Oils and Under Arm Deodorants

In response to a bulletin I wrote called “Baby with a Cold and Congestion”:

Baby with a Cold and Congestion

Ria writes: Hi Artemis, I just wanted to email you and share an of experience of mine using the Young Living oils. I have a 4 month old son who has been suffering from a severe cold for a few days. We are still breastfeeding, so this had became a struggle due to his blocked up nose and generally feeling under the weather. I use the Gentle Baby blend on him regularly to aid with settling, as I did during my pregnancy. Often I put a few drops on his blanket, he loves it. I was concerned as nothing was really working for his cold, so I reach for my bag of goodies, and pulled out Thieves. I put a drop on his chest once in the morning and at night for 2 days, I would also hold my hand over his nose so he would breath it in. Then I was drawn to Peppermint which I thought would aid with the nasal congestion, I used 4 drops of peppermint in the diffuser at night when sleeping. Wow, the results were amazing!!! He’s one happy little bunny coming to the end of his sniffles! Thank you Young Living!

Artemis adds: Just a friendly reminder about working with children, if you decide to follow Ria’s suggestion. Thieves oil is a very hot oil, and may irritate sensitive (baby) skin. For this reason, the Essential Oils Desk Reference suggests not using it on children under 18 months of age. I know that not everyone follows these safety data recommendations, so if you choose to still use Thieves oil on your own child, try it on your own skin first…..and you will most likely choose to dilute it (1 drop of essential oil to 4 drops of vegetable oil or V6) before applying to a child.
Donna writes: Just thought I would let you know that I can put Thieves oil around my neck and behind my ears with little or no burning, but I can’t put it around my nose. I once tried to use it as an emergency deodorant — luckily I had some rosehip oil in my bag as it burned like crazy under my arms so I had to put the Rosehip over the top to stop the burning. Different areas of the body are more sensitive so even if an oil doesn’t burn on your own skin, you still need to be aware that a baby’s skin is much more sensitive….so take this into account when deciding whether to dilute or not. Love your bulletins, keep them coming!

Artemis writes: I wanted to include Donna’s comments in a bulletin, because this is a great topic to know about (especially if you are new to using essential oils). There are certain times and places on the body where an oil will be “felt” more strongly than normal (ie. it will feel hot). This includes:

▪ If you’ve just hopped out of the shower (so your pores of your skin are open)
▪ If it’s an extremely hot day eg. when the temperature shoots over 35 degrees Celsius (95 degrees Fahrenheit) with high humidity
▪ If you step into a hot bath that has oils in it (always better to add some V6 or other good quality vegetable oil into your bath water before adding your essential oil, as it helps disperse the essential oil so it doesn’t all stick to your open pores of your skin)
▪ Sensitive areas of the body – such as the genitals, under arms, face and neck. In contrast, under the feet tends to be our toughest area of skin, so this is a great place to put the “hotter” oils.

The answer is simple – when you put an oil on your skin and it burns, quickly add V6 or a good quality vegetable oil over the top. This will extinguish the burning in a matter of minutes, if not seconds. V6 is superior to most vegetable oils, so it’s my oilof choice. The reason is that it contains a high proportion of coconut oil, which has a similar make-up to our skin and thus absorbs very quickly into the skin (ie. it gives faster relief to any burning). And it’s all organic. So I always keep a bottle on hand just for these types of situations. But if I was caught without my V6, I’d use any other vegetable oil I could get to quickly.

As an adult, there is only one oil that I would always dilute, regardless of where I was going to put it on my body, and that’s Cassia. It’s a “hotter” relative of Cinnamon. We have other hot oils…..like Oregano, Thyme, Clove, Basil, Cinnamon Bark, Ocotea, Thieves, Immupower – however I will still apply these oils neat to my body (avoiding areas of sensitive skin)……but I will start in small quantities, testing an area of skin. I always make sure I have V6 or other good quality vegetable oil on hand to rub liberally over the top in case it starts burning.

For children and babies, there are some great books available, including Gentle Babies (available from The Health Garden in Australia, or Life Science Publishing in the US), and also Calm Kids (available through The Health Garden).

Under Arm Deodorants

As for a safe and natural oil-enhanced deodorant…..I use Dentarome Plus toothpaste (or Dentarome if you find Dentarome Plus a little strong). They both contain Thievesoil. This is my absolute favourite deodorant. It doesn’t mark my clothing. I only need the teensiest bit (imagine half of the area of the pink part of your little fingernail – and that sized bit will do both underarms!!!). It spreads easily, and keeps me smelling amazingly fresh for 24 hours with no top ups needed. I can’t understand why the whole world isn’t using this as their deodorant!!!! Oh, and if you put too much on, the Peppermint in it will feel like it’s biting you for 10 minutes….so less is more. Dentarome Ultra is great for teeth – but is too sticky to spread under the arms, so isn’t suitable as a deodorant.
Susan Marshall writes: I was recently asked by a student to assist with her horse that had a great deal of pain in the wither area. The student thought there may be a tick there, but every time she tried to investigate, the horse was in so much pain it tried to bite or kick. At first glance I couldn’t see anything, however I gently lifted the mane and discovered not one but two large paralysis ticks with their heads buried in the same hole. Although I’ve never tried essential oils on ticks, I have heard of others using Peppermint or Thieves oil with the tick just dropping off.

Unfortunately we didn’t have either of these oils so it was a case of using tweezers the old fashioned way. The horse however would not allow us near the area. We did have PanAway oil which is great for pain relief and numbing the area, so I put a few drops on and around the ticks and waited a few minutes for it to take effect. I could then use the tweezers to remove both ticks without the horse even flinching!

Artemis adds: Purification is another wonder oil for ticks – just one drop on the tick, and it can’t get out fast enough. I have a funny story to share, on the topic of ticks. My lovely black cat had a tick on him a couple of years ago, so I delicately put Purification on the tick….and nothing happened. So I reapplied, and reapplied (about twice a day for 2 days). Still nothing. “This is strange,” I think, as I’ve heard such rave reviews that I was certain it would work on my cat’s tick. Having come from QLD where paralysis ticks are such a problem, I was keen to resolve the problem quickly. So I very carefully put Oregano oil on a cotton bud, and swabbed the tick. This is a very hot oil, and not one I’d usually use on a cat…..but I figured it would be the most unpalatable oil for a tick. Still nothing! The tick was still there. Finally, in desperation, I took my cat to the vet to have the tick removed. Last resort. The vet looked at me, and chuckled. I had been anointing a very beautiful cat-nipple……not a tick at all! (OK, that’s one of my most humorous oils bloopers).

Carol writes:We had company from Alaska on May 9th 2011. My sister-in-law ask me if I felt OK. She stated that my nose was growing red and getting bigger. I told her that I knew, and that it was either a pressure pimple or a boil.  She told me that she was sure it looked like a boil. We called my sister and as she looked at it, she was sure it was a boil. It was very painful and covered my nose. I started on antibiotics, and at the pharmacy had the pharmacist suggest a poultice to draw out the boil. I used them faithfully, and my nose got more inflamed. On the third day I could see what I call runners going from my boil – one going straight for my forehead, four headed straight to the sinus cavities and 2 headed for the upper gums in my mouth.  I equate a boil to blood poisoning, because it is the body’s way to eliminate toxins in the body. I became very concerned, because a boil needs to come to a point and break.
Often they need to be lanced.  If the head went other than my gums, it would rupture in a very dangerous place, ie. sinus, brain, eyes.

I called Diane and told her what I had, how I had tried to treat it, and my lack of success. I ask her if she could help me. She was ever so gracious and told me she would research it out, and combine what ever oils I might need.  She dropped it at my door in a very short time. I used the combination of oils every two hours for the first 24 hours, then every 4 hours after that until it was gone. By the end of the first day the runners were disappearing, the end of the second day they were gone and my nose was not in constant pain, the end of the third day the boil was almost completely gone. One week later I dared show my face in public again. It was no fun being Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. The teasing was in fun, the problem was very real, the consequences avoided. I am very grateful to Diane and the Young Livings Essential Oils  I know it saved me from a frightful trip to the hospital, with very dangerous consequences. The blend she made up for me were: Frankincense, Peppermint, Lavender, Rosemary, Lemongrass, Purification, Thieves, Clove and Oregano, mixed in with a carrier oil.

Artemis adds: If I were to dilute essential oils in a carrier oil, I use a 1:2 or a 1:4 dilution. This means one drop of essential oils mixed in 2 to 4 drops of vegetable oil. Young Living sells an excellent vegetable oil called V6.

Sore, aching hands

Carol writes: I can identify with the lady who wrote about trying to convert her husband to the benefits of oils.  I am slowly getting through to mine to the extent that he actually asked me if I had anything in my kit for sore, aching hands. I tried Aroma Siez oil, but he did not get any relief.  So I went to my “oils bible” (the Essential Oils Desk Reference) and found a blend for arthritis using Ortho Ease massage oil, and the single oils of Wintergreen, Cypress, Roman Camomile and Juniper.  Not only is he rubbing it into his hands, but I noticed he was also rubbing it into his elbows and says it is giving him relief.

He is always taking skin off himself at work, and it usually takes ages to heal,  I have made up a “brew” of 5 to 10 drops each of Frankincense and Thievesoil, mixed with a teaspoon of V6. I put that mix in a Thieves spray bottle to make it easier to apply. The sores no longer get infected and heal quickly.  Mind you the initial spray can sting for a couple of seconds, but he is happy to use it with the results he’s getting.
Coughs and Breathing Difficulties

Debbie writes: At the onset of a cold, my 11 year old daughter will begin to cough, which in turn leads to asthma or even an ambulance as she cannot get her breath properly. I only recently was introduced to Young Living Essential Oils and with this small amount of knowledge I put it to use. My daughter started coughing on getting out of bed, and as the morning progressed it got worse. I was rubbing Thieves oil neat under her feet as well as her taking a drop in water twice a day. I was getting very concerned. I grabbed the Peace and Calming oil and gave her a drop on the palm of her hand. She rubbed it 3 times clockwise in her palms, and held her palms close to her nose and started to breath in through her nose and out through her mouth. Within seconds she had almost stopped coughing all together. It was amazing!! She has always had 3 to 4 days off school when this happens, but this time she was able to go back the very next day with hardly a cough and she was feeling OK. It was an amazing experience to witness this remarkable recovery of someone usually so vulnerable. Thank You Young Living!!!
Beating the Common Cold

Fiona writes: This week I came down with a cold but haven’t actually felt sick at all even though I have the symptoms. The severity was kept low thankfully and no time off work 🙂 Here’s what I did:

Day 1: I had a runny nose and sneezing. I went home and used the following oils:
▪ Breathe Again roll on and Dorado Azul on my nose and chest.
▪ I also ingested a vege cap filled with drops of Oregano, Thieves, Lemon, Peppermint, Thyme and Dorardo Azul. I did this 3 times in the day.
▪ I took 4 Sulfurzyme capsules before bed
▪ I drank 120+ mls of Ningxia Red throughout the day
▪ I sipped on Thieves tea. I make this using 2 drops ofThievesoil in hot water with 2 or 3 drops of Lemon oil and a half a lemon and a teaspoon of Honey…. I make thiis every few hours.
▪ I also sprayed in my mouth the Thieves spray. It kinda numbed my throat.
▪ By the evening I was feeling fine and did a 5.6km on the treadmill with interval running.

Day 2: I woke up feeling fine. I sounded nasally but not sick. I again used the above regime of oils/Ningxia Red/Thieves tea. I did through the night have a dry niggling cough. Unfortunately I didn’t have any R.C. oil as I’ve found that my coughs stop within seconds of using R.C…..so I used Peppermint oil instead. I applied it on my throat and chest and I ended up falling asleep. By evening I felt fine and did some Weights and gave a Raindrop Technique

Day 3: No cough when I woke up, although I still had a bit of a sore throat from coughing. Took 4 Sulfurzyme and continued Day 1’s regime oils/Ningxia Red/Thieves tea and I am feeling fine!!! I haven’t felt sick one bit. Given I haven’t had much sleep the last 2 nights from the niggly dry cough, I am feeling OK and not too tired. Thank God for NingXia Red!!!! (No exercise today – I had a rest day).

Day 4: Today feeling fine. I sound a little nasally still but all good… Imagine if I didn’t use the oils and supplements? 🙂 Will exercise tonight !

Artemis adds: Remember – if you decide to ingest any oils, make sure it’s Young Living brand because of the quality. Also, I like to start with 1 drop the first day, 2 drops the second day, 3 drops the third day and build up slowly. This way there is less likelihood of being caught in a nasty detox through taking more oil than the body can handle.

Wisdom Teeth, Tooth Cavities and other Dental Work

Carol writes: Friday 26th November I was booked in to have preparation for a tooth crown.  2 weeks prior I had trouble with 3 teeth in the same area related to receding gum and I used Peppermint oil to settle it which worked a treat almost straight away when I finally decided to try it. I went to the dentist Friday morning for the tooth crown preparation, and she advised removal of the wisdom tooth as well as preparation for the crown on the other tooth.  She advised me to have a quiet weekend after the procedure, and prescribed antibiotics in case I needed them.  By midday at work the anaesthetic was wearing off and I chose to go home at 2pm.  On arriving home I soaked a cotton swab with water & a drop of Thieves oil and placed it in my mouth and rubbed Panaway on my jaw line.  I laid down and went to sleep.  I woke after 2 hours and realised the pain had diminished considerably. I repeated the Panaway on the jaw line before going to bed, and the Thieves oil in my mouth once more in the morning.  I was fine for the rest of the weekend and ecstatic to have avoided all the discomfort I was expecting.  Thank you Young Living oils!!!

The following testimonial is reprinted with permission from the US Sha-Faun bulletin:

Wendy writes: At my last regular dental cleaning and checkup several months ago, the Hygienist and Dentist told me that I had 2 small cavities. They wanted to take x-ray (to see how bad it is?) but I declined. Then they suggested drilling a hole, clean it up and fill the hole. Again, I declined it. Being a Dentist’s sister, and have enough knowledge and experience in natural healing. I started using Thieves Oil, Dentarome Ultra Toothpaste, Thieves Dental Floss and Peppermint Oil everyday for 4 months now. Not only the cavities were gone (I can only see very shallow dent through magnifying mirror), all teeth are glowing (sign of new Layer of enamel?) gums are firmer and with healthier color. And more…My overall health (Body, Mind and Spirit) is incredibly improved since Hiroko introduced YLEO (Young Living Essential Oil) products and philosophy to me 5 months ago. During my daily meditation, I always take time to thank Gary Young and YLEO for making these wonderful natural healing products for us. I also thank you, Hiroko and many of my YLEO team members for sharing the educational information and experiences.
Ross River Fever

Fiona writes: I contracted Ross River early last year and got a really bad dose of it. I woke up with a rash all over me…..was not feeling well at all, fever, headaches and woke up through the night and couldn’t walk. I got out of bed and fell straight to the ground and don’t really recall much of the night – it was the worst feeling I had ever experienced losing the ability to walk and then came the fatigue.

When I could bare the pain from the joints aching so badly, I started doing Vitaflex Technique on my feet using all of the oils from the Raindrop Technique Kit. [Artemis adds: Vitaflex Technique is Ancient tibetan reflexology, and one of the steps of Raindrop Technique]. I also applied Deep Relief roll-on, and a few drops each of Panaway, Peppermint and Wintergreen on every aching joint….I used Peppermint to bring down my fevers which lasted for couple of days by applying a couple of drops to the soles of my feet and I applied a drop or two of Peppermint oil on my head for the headaches. I used Ningxia Red 5-6 times a day in the first week, and then lessened as the weeks went on. I also ingested Thieves and Oregano oil in vege caps to address the virus.

I ended up getting in to my normal GP and he could not believe I was up and walking considering I had lost the ability to walk. A blood test confirmed that it was Ross River Fever, and he prescribed me a strong anti-inflammatory but I didn’t take them. Instead, I used my anti-inflammatory oils.

I ended up having 6 Raindrop Techniques (nearly one a week) to help draw the virus out of my body and also looked at my diet which included a liver cleanse, which I felt great doing and have adopted better eating habits since. I subsequently began eating cleaner in order to reduce the inflammation in my body. I had a severe case of Ross River and it did take a good few months to rid the pain/inflammation/Fatigue from my system – but I believe that I wouldn’t have gotten through it as quickly given the severity of it if, if not for my oils and Raindrop Technique.

I have been using the Young Living oils for about 18 months and have not used any prescribed medications or over the counter medications in that 18 months. I love my oils and the journey of learning has been amazing – thank you Young Living and my uplines for their amazing support!

Artemis adds: My mum had Ross River Fever about 5 years ago. She was weeks (or maybe months) into it before I gave her a Raindrop Technique. At that stage she was experiencing intense pain in her joints, and was exhausted all the time. She sat up at the end of the Raindrop Technique, and I asked her how she felt……and she told me she felt “100%”. She then proceeded to start some cleanup work around her home, and didn’t go to bed until 1 in the morning…..instead of her usual 9pm. She had a slight relapse a year later, and I decided that I would have been better to give her a series of Raindrop Techniques, rather than just one…..just to completely return the body to health. One Raindrop Technique produced amazing results….but I believe that ongoing ones would have been much better.

Also note that Fiona talks about ingesting oils. Many seasoned Young Living oil users choose to ingest oils, and use essential oils very liberally. If you are new to oils, or new to ingestion, please start very gently so as not to stimulate a major detox in your body. When I started ingesting oils, I began with 1 drop ofoil the first day (in a vege cap), 2 drops the second day, 3 drops the third day, and so on. That’s a great way to monitor how the oils are affecting your unique body system, to find the level that you are most comfortable using!

Raindrop Technique

Artemis writes: If you haven’t already learned Raindrop Technique, or are not feeling confident with your technique, I can highly recommend taking a class in the technique. There are many great leaders who are teaching classes in Raindrop Technique. I’ve helped develop the Raindrop Technique training material for the Raindrop Association of Australia, and you will find it a great way to learn in-depth about Raindrop Technique, and also the Young Living oils used in the technique. See our announcements this week for our Raindrop Technique MasterClasses in Australia – this is a fantastic way to learn (and feel confident) with performing Raindrop Technique. Our classes are open to therapists and non-therapists alike. For more information, go to www.raindrop.com.au (our Calendar of events will be updated with our new courses in the coming week).

ToothCavities

The following testimonial is reprinted with permission from the US Sha-Faun bulletin:

Catherine writes: So we have been telling the dentist when they find a cavity “we’ll take care of it, just tell us where it is” And then the kids put Thieves oil on it. Once Sara-Anne’s cavity “disappeared” and they said it was because it had not gone through the enamel and that with good care they recalcify. Then Katie had a cavity that later “was never there”…..

So I always ask, what do you mean it’s a cavity ? How deep ? Some of the hygienists think I’m a little radical … and of course they cannot agree with me if it’s not FDA approved….

Finally the dentist himself gave me some info and encouragement. He said they can’t really tell how far a cavity has gone, only from how sticky it is and even Xrays can’t completely tell. Only when you go into it to fill it, can you tell how deep. And then he said “with your family I am always willing to wait and see because I have seen cavities in your kids stop decaying – it does not fill the hole but the bacteria disappears – with other people I just fill it right away “ Of course this is thanks to Thievesoil – which the kids apply to the specific tooth every time they find out there is possible decay.

It is good to keep asking questions. And it was good to finally get the word form the dentist who dared to say it. A real encouragement for the kids to continue with Thieves, even though it’s a hot moment when they do it !

Wendy writes: At my last regular dental cleaning and checkup several months ago, the Hygienist and Dentist told me that I had 2 small cavities. Artemis adds: Thieves is one of our wonder oils. Catherine is having her children put 1 drop of the oil straight onto the tooth, and although she hasn’t said the frequency, if it were me I’d be applying it morning and night. Note that according to the Essential Oils Desk Reference, Thieves oil shouldn’t be used on children younger than 18 months of age because of how hot it can be on the skin/gums when applied neat.

Thieves is highly anti-bacterial, and it contains clove oil (which dentists of by-gone eras used in dental work to numb the pain). If you look up the Essential Oils Desk Reference, you will discover that studies at Weber State University in 1997 demonstrated Thieves’ killing power against airborne bacteria. When diffused against gram positive Micrococcus luteus, it showed a 90% kill rate after 12 minutes of diffusing, and this had increased to a 99.3% kill rate after 20 minutes of diffusing. Whereas against gram negative Micrococcus aeruginosa, it showed a 99.96% kill rate after only 12 minutes of diffusing.

In the wake of the floods – coping with mold

Thieves has another great attribute, which is going to prove very handy in Eastern Australia in the wake of the rain and floods….and that’s its power against mold, including toxic black mold. USA studies done by Dr. Edward Close involved diffusing Thievesoil in a contained space for 48 hours straight (refilling the diffuser with more oil as it ran low). These studies showed that Thievesoil was effective at killing even the worst toxic black mold infestation – one which up to that time had proven hard to kill even with industrial bleaches.

The best diffuser to use is the nebulising type, as this doesn’t require any water (water promotes the lovely moist environment where mold loves to live). In my nebulising diffuser, I use 30 drops of essential oil, and it lasts generally 5 to 8 hours. So this means you could be going through a few bottles ofThievesoil to eradicate mold from an entire house, room by room.

What was really exciting about Dr. Close’ experiment was that the Thievesoil kept working even when it was no longer being diffused. Microscopic particles ofThievesoil were attached to walls, clothing, etc., and continued to deter the mold and bacteria from growing there! This was not something that was seen with bleach. With bleach, as soon as the bleach was gone, the mold began returning. And if you are worried about the idea of having “oil” on your good clothes – be aware that there are two different types ofoil – essential oil, and lipid (fatty) oils. The latter includes oils like olive oil, and it can leave marks on clothing from the high fat content. Essential oils are not oily, unless they’ve been mixed with a fatty (carrier) oil, so I’ve never found a problem with using Thievesoil around my clothes.

I started with Thievesoil in Manuka Honey and smeared it all over the wound and under the flap.

Open wound on a cat

Roslyn writes: Hi Artemis, I have used Thieves Spray for the same exact injury that Lana used on her cat (which you shared in a previous bulletin). The injury to my cat was quite bad the wound had a dead smell about it, (the collar must have been caught under its front armpit for a few days or more, as she doesn’t always come to be feed everyday).  It had an open wound approx 2 inches long. The wound cleaned up and didn’t smell within the first day after spraying it with Thieves spray, It took approx 3 weeks to totally heal, with me spraying the wound at least once a day. The cat appeared to have no side effects. I have many uses for Thieves spray, use on sunburn, just marvelous! Thanks for sharing your knowledge, Regards Roslyn

(Thievesoil – I put a drop or two into his dog food, and he gets the tablespoon of the NingXia Red in it as well.)

I also use Purification mixed with Animal Scents ointment on my Schnauzer.  She sometimes will scratch her neck until it bleeds.  I take Animal Scents ointment put it in the palm of my hand and add 1-2 drops of Purification.  I apply it on the spot she has rubbed raw then take a bandana and tie it around her neck.  Usually within several days of applying the oils and ointment she is healed.

Artemis adds: Exodus II and Animal Scents Ointment are not available in Australia, but I believe they can be ordered from the USA on the NFR program. Alternatively, I would use Immupower or Thieves oil in place of Exodus II. V6 Vegetable oil from Young Living has lots of fractionated coconut oil in it, so I’d be using this as my “base”. If I didn’t have Animal Scents Ointment, I would use Purification and/or Melrose neat on cuts. Happy oiling!

GOLDEN STAPH

Of the 91 single essential oils, 78 killed the bacteria all at varying degrees.

This is So important to me and I’m thankful to Sue and Gary! my child has cystic fibrosis, and gets staph alot! Even off his own skin(we all carrie some to a degree on our skin) but for him its more serious. I’ve used lemon oil every day for him to try and control it. But WOW theres other oils out there I can use on him for this.these oils are truly a gift from God. And thank you Sue and Gary:)
God Bless you both

About the Author: Gloria Miller is an Executive Young Living Distributor living in Chillicothe, Missouri.

Morgellons (also called Morgellons disease or Morgellons syndrome), is a name given in 2002 by Mary Leitao[1] to a proposed condition referred to by the Centers for Disease Control as unexplained dermopathy and characterized by a range of cutaneous (skin) symptoms including crawling, biting, and stinging sensations; finding fibers on or under the skin; and persistent skin lesions (e.g., rashes or sores). Current scientific consensus holds that Morgellons is not a new disorder and is instead a new and misleading name for a well known condition. Most doctors,[2] including dermatologists[3] and psychiatrists,[4] regard Morgellons as a manifestation of known medical conditions, including delusional parasitosis.[5][6][7]
Despite the lack of evidence that Morgellons is a novel or distinct condition and the absence of any agreed set of diagnostic symptoms,[8][not in citation given] the Morgellons Research Foundation and self-diagnosed Morgellons patients have successfully lobbied members of Congress and the U.S. government’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to investigate the proposed condition.[2] The CDC states that while it is not known at present whether the condition represents a new disease entity, or whether persons who identify themselves as having Morgellons have a common cause for their symptoms, share common risk factors, or are contagious, it has begun an epidemiological investigation of the “Unexplained Dermopathy (aka ‘Morgellons’).”[9]“““““
Morgellons is not recognized as a unique disorder, so there is currently no list of symptoms or differential diagnosis for Morgellons that is generally accepted by the medical community. Patients usually self-diagnose based on media reports and the Internet.
The 2007 Atlas of Human Parasitology covers the proposed condition in its section on “Pseudoparasites and Artifacts”:
Many dermatologists refute the suggestion that this is an actual disease but instead indicate that many of these patients have psychological problems or other common skin disorders. Given the large numbers of individuals who feel that they have this affliction, it will be most helpful over the coming years to have a valid scientific assessment of Morgellons disease and its possible etiology (or etiologies). One of the chief criticisms by many patients has been that they feel the medical community and other scientists consulted have not been open to the idea that there is possibly an as yet unidentified infectious or physiologic causation for the disease. However it is certainly true that in fact many expert parasitologists, medical entomologists and other microbiologists have in fact carefully examined fibers and other materials expressed or extracted from such patients and found that biological organisms are not present. Although an apparent association of the condition with the presence of Lyme disease has been reported (Savely et al., 2006, Am J Clin Dermatol, 7:1–6), further research will be needed to help resolve the validity of Morgellons disease. Until then, whether Morgellons disease is another name for delusional parasitosis or a real disease entity with a biologic or physiologic basis will remain up in the air.[41]
The main purported symptom of Morgellons is “a fixed belief” that fibers are embedded in or extruding from the skin.[4] The Morgellons Research Foundation claims patients have reported additional—though unsubstantiated—symptoms[42], including:
▪ formication, the sensation of insects “moving, stinging or biting” beneath the skin
▪ skin lesions, both spontaneous and self-inflicted
▪ musculoskeletal effects and pain, including joints, muscles, tendons and connective tissue
▪ disabling fatigue
▪ cognitive and emotional effects
William T. Harvey, director of the MRF medical advisory board, claimed in 2007 that Morgellons patients exhibit laboratory findings including increased levels of inflammatorycytokines, increased insulin, and antibodies to three bacterial pathogens, but did not provide evidence for these claims.[43] Many Morgellons patients have symptoms that are also consistent with chronic fatigue syndrome, depression, obsessive–compulsive disorder, and attention deficit disorder.[44] Rhonda Casey, chief of pediatrics at OSU Medical Center, while working with the OSU-CHS for the Investigation of Morgellons Disease, stated that her Morgellons patients looked ill with neurological symptoms, which included confusion, difficulty walking and controlling their feet (foot drop), and a sagging mouth when speaking.[13] The OSU-CHS has issued a list of symptoms similar to that of the MRF.[45]
“““““““““`

Known skin conditions
It has been hypothesized that some cases of (self-diagnosed) Morgellons disease are actually other recognized skin disorders, including allergic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, and infestation with the parasite scabies.[3][51]
Hypotheses about the fibers
Randy Wymore, a former research director of the MRF and presently director of the Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences’ Center for the Investigation of Morgellons Disease, claims that Morgellons patients have masses of dark fibers visible at 60x magnification under the unbroken skin, while unaffected individuals do not.[3] Wymore sent samples of fibers supplied by Morgellons patients to the Police Crime Lab in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for analysis. A forensic scientist at the Tulsa Police Crime Lab in Oklahoma searched the FBI’s national database, but the Morgellons sample did not match any known fiber in the database.[11] Lab director Mark Boese said the fibers were “consistent with something that the body may be producing,” adding, “These fibers cannot be manmade and do not come from a plant. This could be a byproduct of a biological organism.”[11]
Rhonda Casey, chief of pediatrics at Oklahoma State University Hospital and part of the MRF research team at OSU, claimed that she has examined many patients’ skin via a dermatoscope and performed biopsies on both lesions and apparently healthy skin, and that “she saw fibers embedded in both places. The white ones, she says, are hard to see. A dermatologist who either didn’t look at all, or didn’t use a dermatoscope, might not see them under the skin.”[13]
Dermatologists say any fibers are from clothing embedded in self-imposed sores, and the fibers patients bring in bags, are textile in nature.[13][62] The fibers may also be peripheral nerve endings.[63]
Bacterial hypothesis
Three members of the Morgellons Research Foundation, including Raphael Stricker, Director and former President of the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society (ILADS), and Ginger Savely, also an ILADS member,[64] authored an article about Morgellons published by the American Journal of Clinical Dermatology in early 2006. The authors wrote that “Morgellons disease may be linked to an undefined infectious process,” and reported that many patients with Morgellons disease have positive Western blots for Borrelia burgdorferi, the causative agent of Lyme disease, and treatment with anti-bacterials appropriate for Lyme disease leads to remission of Morgellons symptoms in most patients;[25] however, no methodology or clinical data are provided in support of any of these claims. Harvey, another member of ILADS, has also stated there is serological evidence of bacterial pathogens in Morgellons patients, but did not provide any such evidence.[43] Stricker, along with Citovsky, MRF board member from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, claimed that Morgellons skin fibers could come from Agrobacterium, a plant-infecting organism known to induce cellulose fibers at infected sites within plant tissues.[65]Agrobacterium is already known to be responsible for opportunistic infections in humans with weakened immune systems, but has not been shown to be a primary pathogen in otherwise healthy individuals.[66]
Treatment
Treatment for infectious disease
People who say they have Morgellons frequently reject the diagnosis of delusional parasitosis,[54] “report that their symptoms are not taken seriously,”[25] and refuse psychotropic medicine. Hypothesizing that Morgellons is the result of an infectious process, some medical practitioners associated with the MRF recommend the use of antibiotics, antifungals, antiparasitic medications, herbal supplements, and light therapy.[1][26][27][54][56][72][73] Randy Wymore, a former MRF director, has claimed on his website that some Morgellons patients who test positive for Lyme disease obtain symptom relief using aggressive, long-term antibiotic treatment similar to what is used by some doctors to treat “chronic” Lyme disease, another proposed but medically disputed condition.
[74] Virginia Savely, a nurse with the MRF and member of the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society (ILADS), claims to have similar unpublished results.[25] The antibiotic treatment is not curative, because when it is discontinued, the symptoms return.[44] Dermatologists say that these positive effects of antibiotic use for some patients are likely the result of a placebo effect or anti-inflammatory actions of the drugs. They advise against prescribing antibiotics, which may reinforce the patients’ delusions instead of addressing what these doctors consider the core problem: delusional parasitosis.[46] In addition, long-term antibiotic use can have serious side effects.

Biofilms Increase Antibiotic Resistance

Further complicating Morgellons treatment is the biofilm potential of microorganisms. According to leading research, when bacteria are organized in biofilms, they produce highly effective biochemical substances which individual bacteria are unable to produce alone.

Because the dense extracellular matrix and the outer layer of cells in a biofilm protect the interior of the community, antibiotic resistance can be reportedly be increased 1000 fold. It has recently been shown that biofilms are present on the removed tissue of 80% of patients undergoing surgery for chronic sinusitis.

No Silver Bullet!

For these reasons, and I hate to say this, I do not see a silver bullet coming that will all at once, wipe out the various infections and infestations, their future life cycles (eggs) and immediately restore integrity to immunity and normal physiology to the body of a Morgellon’s sufferer.
Self-treatment
Persons with Morgellons symptoms may turn to alternative remedies
Acid/Alkaline Balance

Maintaining an alkaline pH seems to be a critical factor. it certainly has proven to be therapeutic in maintaining ideal soil conditions for healthy plants. Perhaps the most critical self-regulating function the body has to perform is the removal of metabolic wastes and maintaining an internal environment that is slightly alkaline.

This is our creator’s design and intent; making our bodies unfriendly territory to destructive viruses, bacteria and fungi and virtually impregnable to disease. Unfortunately, the foods most of us are eating and our chemically and often emotionally toxic environment aggressively promotes acidity in the body.

Factors Complicating Morgellons Treatment

Thyroid and adrenal suppression seem to be a common denominator among many Morgellons patients, and may in fact be the underlying cause of immune deficiency that opens the door to their normally unwelcome guests.

Young Living’s Thyromin (supports the Thyroid). And below read on how to support the adrenals.

According to recent case studies published in the Journal of Case Reports, low body temperature, immune suppression and elevated inflammatory markers were common to virtually all the patients studied.

Anyone who has endured marathon struggles with candida overgrowth can attest to the difficulty of displacing established fungal infections, especially when underlying challenges such as heavy metal toxicity provide favorable conditions even when stringent dietary restrictions are followed.

Chronic candidiasis patients can also testify to the burdening effect that chronic low level fungal infection causes on the immune system. Fungal mycotoxins are xenoestrogens which further suppress thyroid function, leading to secondary opportunistic infections.

Fungi, soil-based bacteria and the parasitic organisms such as collembola or rotifer which feed on them have evolved incredible mechanisms to withstand prolonged harsh conditions, and are capable of surviving in a dormant state for extended periods.

Fungi and bacteria have demonstrated amazing adaptive capabilities long before the advent of genetic engineering. Once they claim a welcome home in a human host, these proven survivors can be difficult to displace.

Restoring the Bioterrain

Natural antifungal and antimicrobial agents such as oil of oregano, olive leaf and grapefruit seed extracts, nanonized silver, and stabilized oxygen products such as MMS may be effectively used to directly oppose the various microbial threats. However, if steps are not taken to restore normal physiology at the cellular level, a Morgellons sufferer will likely be consigned to an ever repeating cycle of infection and reinfection.

Young Livings Oregano and Grapefruit essential oils are all (100% pure Therapuetic grade)

We don’t have the option of sterilizing our bodies the way we can sterilize soil in order to exterminate pathogens and get a fresh start, but we can take steps to restore normal physiology in the body (as is done in soil) by eating alkalizing foods and introducing critical nutrients to promote detoxification pathways.

We can use probiotics (friendly bacteria) and digestive enzymes to restore mucosal immunity, reduce inflammation and improve our ability to get nutrients to our cells.
Young Livings Life 5 (Contains natural probiotics)
Essentialzymes and Detoxzymes are great for digestive enzymes

We can take omega-three fats to help control inflammation and improve circulation. We can take amino acids such as L-glutamine or Whey Protein Isolate to rebuild the integrity of the intestinal lining. We can take antioxidants to neutralize harmful free radicals that steal cellular vitality.

Young Living Products Omega Blue, Pure Protein Complete( contains Whey protein).

We can take vitamins and key minerals like magnesium and iodine to balance our pH and thyroid function and fuel cellular energy production. We can take herbs and thymus glandular extract to restore integrity to the immune response.

These are the foundational pathways of health: strong and balanced immunity, proficient absorption and assimilation of nutrients, unhindered (cellular) energy production, efficient removal of toxic wastes and environmental contaminants, and strong bones, which act as a storehouse for alkalizing minerals and a maturation site for immune cells.

The Burgstiner Wellness Protocol is designed to provide comprehensive support in all of these critical areas.

Finally, because of the intransigent and pleomorphic nature of the microbes and parasitic organisms involved with Morgellons, don’t expect a first round knockout, but a multiple round epic struggle. With each round, the fungal load gets a little lower; with each round, the viral load gets a little lower; with each round, the battle field is a little more level until finally the immune system is no longer outnumbered and outflanked.

With faithful determination and by God’s grace, this is a battle worth fighting; it is a battle that can be and is being won.

Our prayers go out for all of you who are walking down this difficult and lonely path. It is our privilege to serve you, and our joy to rejoice with those of you who have ears to hear and eyes to see.

Abundant Blessings,

Start with Alkalime 1/2-1 tsp just before bedtime and after meals.
AlkaLime is a natural way to safely balance the body’s natural pH level and regulate acid in the digestive system.  The essential oils and minerals in AlkaLime help counteract over-consumption of processed foods that can  turn to sugar in the body.  AlkaLime is an outstanding source of alkaline salts that can help reduce internal acidity.
Read below, more on restoring alkalinity to the body;
Life 5 bedtime every night following a meal or as needed.
▪ A Natural Probiotics:
▪ Boast over 8 billion active and viable cultures and 5 probiotic strains
▪ Contains 3 clinically proven super-strains that are 10 times more likely to adhere to and colonize in the bowel
▪ Boost immunity and improves nutrient absorption.
Natural floras exists in the small and large intestine.  This flora keeps our system healthy and in balance. Modern research suggests that as much as 80% of our immune system is located in the digestive tract..  Taking a pure, potent probiotic like Young Living’s Life 5 helps colonize and support the immune system by ensuring that the proper type and delicate amount of flora is maintained.

Inner Defense:
Boost your body’s IMMUNITY with Young Living’s Inner Defense and ImmuPro supplements.
As [art of Young Living’s exclusive essential oil supplement line, Inner Defense is a rapid-delivery softgel that contains. essential oils like oregano, thyme, and Thieves, which is rich  in thymol, carvacrol, and eugenol–all important substances known to defend body systems.  Best taken at the onset of symptoms, Inner Defense works deep in the intestines to create an unfriendly environment for yeast and fungus.

Take 1 softgel daily in a.m. or take 1 softgel 3-5 times daily when stressed.  For best results use Life 5 probiotic 8 hours later.

ImmuPro offers daily protection and immune-boosting benefits by utilizing ingredients like the Ningxia wolfberry, a powerful antioxidant that provides an infusion of energy and immune support.  ImmuPro also contains Young Living’s orange essential oil and minerals like calciuim, zinc, selenioum, and copper that enhance body system support.

Natural Antibiotic Formula
On January 11, 2002, Dr. Terry Friedmann MD. came to Albuquerque, NM to give a seminar about Young Living
Essential Oils. During the event he gave us a recipe for an antibiotic made of essential oils.
Dr. Friedmann’s recipe:
12 drops Thieves
6 drops Oregano
2 drops Frankincense
put into a “00” gel capsule
ANTIBIOTICS
Many essential oils have broad-spectrum anti-fungal, antibacterial and antiviral effects. For example, thyme oil was shown to exert powerful antimicrobial effects against 25 different types of bacteria (Deans and Richie, 1987). Unlike synthetic antibiotics, which are composed of a single type of chemical, essential oils are composites of hundreds of chemicals.

Addrenal Gland Imbalance:
The adrenal glands consist of two sections; An inner part called the medulla produces
stress hormones and an outer part called the cortex secretes critical hormones called
glucocorticoids and aldosterones. Because of these hormones, the cortex has a far
greater impact on overall health than the medulla does.

Why are aldosterone and glucocorticoids so important? Because they directly affect
blood pressure and mineral content and help regulate the conversion of carbohydrates
into energy.

Supporting the Adrenal Glands:
Add essential oils to 1 teaspoon of massage oil and apply as a hot compress over the adrenal
glands (located on top of the kidneys).
3 drops clove
3 drops nutmeg
7 drops rosemary
Essential oils can play a part in correcting deficiencies in adrenal cortex function, Nutmeg,
for example, has adrenal-like activity that raises the energy levels.
Single Oil: Nutmeg
*Sage with nutmeg, clove, rosemary or basil
Blends: EndoFlex, Joy, or En-R-Gee
Supplements:
Thryomin, MultiGreen, Super B, Master Formula, Mineral Essence, NingXia Red
……………………………………………………………….
Regimen:
* Thryomin–1 immediaterly after awakening
* Super B– 1 after meals, if you experience a
niacin flush (skin becoming red and itchy for
about 15 minutes) use only 1/2 of a tablet
* Master Formula 2-6 tablets, 3 times daily
according to blood type and need.

The Importance of alkalinity to good health:
As the liver’s filtered ability becomes impaired the blood becomes increasing acidic.  Unfriendly bacterial and fungi that populate our intestinal tracts thrive in an acid environment and are responsible for secreting mycotoxins, which are the root cause of many debilitating human conditions.  In fact, many researchers believe that most diseases can be linked to blood and intestinal acidity, which contributes to an acid-based yeast and fungus dominance.
The ideal pH for human blood is between 7.4 and 7.6. Preserving this alkalinity (pH balance) is the bedrock on which sound health and strong bodies are built.  When the blood loses its alkalinity and  starts to become more acidic, the foundation of health is undermined.  This creates an environment where we become vulnerable to disease and runaway yeast and fungus overgrowth.

How to Restore Alkalinity
An alkaline environment is hostile to fungi, which require acidity to survive and thrive.  Lowered yeast and fungi populations translate into lower levels of body-damaging, disease-inducing mycotoxins.

Some of the most common varieties of pathogenic bacteria, yeast, and fungi that live in the intestines are inactive.  However, when the body is weakened by illness, stress, and excess acidity caused by stress, these bacteria become harmful and active, changing into an invasive mycelic form.
1. Carefully monitor your diet.  Avoiding yeast-and fungi-promoting foods is a crucial factor in combating excess acidity and fungi over-growth.  Meats, sugars, diary products, pickled and malted products can be especially acidic.  On the other hand, garlic is excellent for controlling fungi and yeast.  Other high-alkaline, fungus-inhabiting foods include green and yellow vegetable, beans, and whole uncracked nuts.  The natural ratio between alkaline and acid foods in the diet should be 4:1– four parts alkaline foods to 1 part acid.  JuvaPower and JuvaSpice are mixtures of extremely alkaline and high-antioxidant foods that nourish the liver and combat toxic acidity.   The pH of a raw food does not always determine its acidity or alkalinity in the digestive system.  Some foods, like lemons, might be acidic in their natural state but when consumed and digested are converted into alkaline residues.  Thus, the true determinant of a food’s pH is whether it is an alkaline-ash or acid-ash food.  In this case, lemons are an alkaline-ash food.
2. Avoid The Use of Antibiotics. The over use of antibiotics for incidental, minor, or cosmetic conditions not only increase the resistance of pathogenic microorganisms, but it kills the beneficial bacteria in your body, leaving the mycotoxin-generating yeast and fungi intact.  This is why many women suffer outbreaks of yeast infections after using antibiotic .
3. Use Essential oils:  Many essential oils possess important anti-microbial, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal properties.  Clove and Thyme essential oils have been documented to kill over 15 different strains of fungi. Essential oils work best when the blood and tissues are alkaline.  When our systems become acidic–due to poor diets, illness, or emotional stress– essential oils lose some of their effects.  So the best way to enhance the action of essential oils is to alkalize your body.  (When the body is acid the essential oil may not work as well, like when the body is alkaline they will work instantly.)
4. Using Alkaline Minerals.  Increasing intake of calcium can dramatically boost blood and intestinal alkalinity..  Calcium and magnesium-rich supplements such as SuperCal and MegaCal can help alkalinize both blood and body tissues.  AlkaLime is an outstanding source of alkaline salts that help reduce internal acidity.  JuvaPower and JuvaSpice are also rich in minerals and yeast-fighting phytonutrients.
5. Lower Stress:  Emotional and psychological tension can be especially damaging to bodily systems and act as a prime promoter of acid formation in the body.  To properly appreciate how acidic stress can be, just think back to the last time you were seriously stressed-out and had to reach for an antacid tablet to soothe your heartburn or stomach discomfort.  Blends of essential oils high in sesquiterpenes, such as frankincense, myrrh, and sandalwood, can produce profound balancing and calming effects on emotions.  They work by affecting the limbic system of our brain, the seat of our emotions.  3 WiseMen contains the 3 oil listed.
6. Boost Friendly Flora:  From 3-4 pounds of b3eneficial bacterial permanently reside in the intestines of the average adult.  Not only are they the first line of defense against foreign invaders, but they are absolutely essential for health, energy, and optimum digestive efficiency.  These intestinal houseguests not only control mucus and debris, but they products V vitamins, vitamin K, and maintain the all-important pH balance of the body. These friendly flora are also important in counteracting and opposing yeast and fungus overgrowth.  Using an acidophilus and bifidus (such as Life 5) supplement may be especially valuable in boosting levels of naturally occurring beneficial bacteria in the body and preventing fungal and yeast overgrowth,
Testing your pH  You can easily test your pH at home by purchasing small litmus-paper strips at your drug store or pharmacy.  To get he most accurate reading, expose the strop to a sample of your saliva immediately after awakening in the morning and before eating breakfast.  Color changes on the litmus paper will determine the pH; check the instruction of your kit for specific details on how to read the litmus paper.

Infected Gum

Reprinted with permission from the US Sha-Faun bulletin:

Tiffany writes: Our son is dealing with problems from a root canal and it is infected now. Last week the infection came out on the surface of his gum and the dentist had to lance it (yes, bloody, painful, and gross!). Last night the same thing happened, with the infection surfacing, and it looked like a horn growing out of his gum.

I looked at my Essential Oils Desk Reference for the oils under oral care. I put 1-2 drops of Wintergreen, Thieves, and Helichrysum on a Q-tip (cotton bud) and had him hold it on that gum spot. Within about 3 minutes it had opened and drained on its own. I also did some energy clearing techniques for him before sleeping, to search for the cause of this particular tooth having problems. And I put Valor on his feet and Harmony on his heart chakra.

This morning he told me, “Today is gonna be a great day.” I said, “Why?” He showed me the gum and it is totally normal looking. I could see no sign of infection at all! I know that if more infection is present, it will reveal itself and we will take care of it.

Food Poisoning and the Flu

Karen writes: I want to share with you a couple of my “Thieves Experiences”!! I have had excellent results using 6 drops of Thieves and 3 drops of Oregano in a vege cap when I had food poisoning. The symptoms stopped in 1 hour, and I felt great afterwards. This was a recipe that you’d shared in a previous bulletin, and it worked a treat. Also, I suffer from severe bronchitis symptoms when I get a cold or flu. Last time I felt flu symptoms coming on (hot, cold, achey, cranky) I tried the 6 drops of Thieves and 3 of Oregano in a capsule morning and night. On the second day I doubled the dose. By the 3rd day I was over the flu altogether. That has never happened before!! Thank you Young Living!

Dr. Elaine Cebuliak (an Australian Vet) writes: I have been using Young Living Frankincense at my veterinary clinic for a few months now. Topical neat application has regressed topical haemagiomas and other skin tumors. I sometimes mix it with DMSO to help drive it in faster to deeper cancer lesions where the owner cannot afford surgery, or where there are contraindications for surgery. We also use oral herbal preparations, intravenous vitamin C, and diet changes. I recommend surgical excision for most tumors, and please see your vet for diagnosis and treatment options for cancer.
An outstanding case is a geriatric dog with perianal tumours that were causing discomfort, tail cramping and secondary infection. The dog is a King Charles Cavalier with a terrible heart problem (as many elderly King Charles Cavaliers do), so the owner is understandably reluctant to have him undergo anaesthesia and surgery. They have been spraying my mix onto the anal area, in addition to lower back massage and acupuncture for his spinal arthritis. He is doing well and the tumors have definitely decreased in size. We added some cansema (black salve- a ZnCl sanguinarine mix) to the topical application as well.

Australian Young LivingConvention….just around the corner!!!!

Would you like to learn more about how to use essential oils on your animals? We are blessed to have another wonderful Vet, Dr. Melissa Shelton, as a keynote speaker at Young Living’s Brisbane Convention from 13th to 15th October, 2011. Melissa gives such a wealth of information on how to use essential oils for our favourite furry and feathered friends, and people who attended her classes continue to send me amazing emails about how they’ve been able to apply this information to help their animals…..and humans too!  What I loved was Melissa’s user-friendly and information-rich content, and the fact that the information gave lots of clues for how to work on humans as well. To book for this great event, call Young Living on 07 3715 7333.

Hot Oils and Under Arm Deodorants

In response to a bulletin I wrote called “Baby with a Cold and Congestion”:

V6 is superior to most vegetable oils, so it’s my oil of choice.

They both contain Thieves oil.

Infected Gum

Reprinted with permission from the US Sha-Faun bulletin:

The Story behind Thieves Oil

▪ There are 17 different written accounts of the Thieves in the 1700’s (at least one is a 15th Century version)
▪ They were merchants (spice traders) importing cinnamon and clove form India
▪ When the plague hit, the King sent out a mandate stopping all trade. In order to continue making money, they set up a pawn shop trade, selling items they robbed from the dead bodies.
▪ The King ordered the constables to capture the thieves, but the constables were afraid of the thieves because they had been in contact with the dead bodies. A couple of constables were put to death for refusing to follow the King’s orders.
▪ Finally the 4 thieves were captured, and their secrets revealed.
▪ It’s not certain which spices were being used by them, but most likely they included Oregano, Cinnamon and Clove. Each of the 17 versions tells different stories of the oils used. One version mentioned wormwood, meadowsweet, wild marjoram, sage, cloves, campula roots, etc. I decided to make my own version.
▪ Colds, flus and illness produce lots of acid, which in turn produces mucus which accumulates in the pancreatic ducts. This leads to fibrocystic conditions and low grade inflammation. If the body accumulates mucus, we have a problem. Mucus in excess in the mesenchymal tissue is the primary cause of nasal polyps (an acid condition). It also contributes to certain tumors in the body.
▪ Thieves oil blend dissolves excess mucus in the body (fluid acids and hardened mucus), attacking inflammation and suppressing the microphages from producing nitric oxide acid.
▪ Excess stress leads to increased cortisol levels. The body then stimulates the microphages, which produce nitric oxide acid. This enters the body and leads to polyps and tumors, etc. Polyps are simply hardened mucus acid.
▪ Vinegar and olive oil are used as emulsifiers for essential oils. Vinegar neutralises acid. A great way to ingest Thieves is in 2 oz (60ml) of raw apple cider vinegar. The “raw” variety has the culture still inside it – you can see it in the bottle. Take this first thing in the morning, and it resets the stomach pH. You can also possibly take it in the evening. This helps to decrease the acid levels of the body, and re-establish proper balance in the body.
▪ The 4 Thieves vinegar formula was used up to 1793 for treating yellow fever. In 1780, they started experimenting with antibiotics. By the 1800’s, everyone used antibiotics instead.
▪ Use Thieves spray on public toilet seats, but make sure you wipe it off before you sit on it. If you forget, rest assured you will never forget a second time!
▪ Thieves ingredients are:
▪ Clove – contains 75+% eugenol – a natural anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and anaesthetic. Clove has camphor and borneol verbanone together. This is amazing as an antibacterial agent. Camphor carries the other compounds in deeper.
▪ Rosemary officianalis – contains 1,8 cineol (also found in Clove oil), which is a powerful antibacterial and anti-viral agent
▪ Eucalyptus radiata – for respiratory infections (this was not used by the thieves, as it was not available in those days)
▪ Cinnamon
▪ Lemon – second to none in its antiseptic action – is antifungal, antiviral and antibacterial. Has a Vitamin P action, so it’s good for microcirculation, especially around the eyes. It is high in coumarins, so it’s good for the bloodstream. Citrus oils help to increase lymphocyte production in the body, thus stimulating the immune system.
▪ Thieves essential oil is caustic to the nose, so just run the diffuser for 15 to 20 minutes then turn it off. You can’t afford not to have a diffuser in your home.
▪ Journal of essential oil research 10:517-523 (Sept/Oct 1998). Tested 3 bacteria which were all significantly killed by diffusing Thieves oil blend. You will find details of these studies in your Essential Oils Desk Reference (in the alphabetical list of oils at the front, under Thieves oil).
▪ Compounding with Thieves: If the immune system is depressed, take Thieves and add an extra 4 to 5 drops of clove (in the diffuser). Or add Eucalyptus radiata to Thieves for a more directional respiratory effect. Or add Cinnamon to Thieves for a more directional viral effect. Or add extra lemon oil to Thieves for enhanced circulation.

Superbugs and MRSA (Golden Staph)

Did you know:
▪ 25 million pounds of antibiotics are used annually in animals that we are going to consume?
▪ 1 million pounds per year of triclosan (an antibacterial agent) is used in soap, cleaners and toothpastes
▪ This overuse of antibiotics has led to superbugs (germs which are resistant to antibiotics). This includes common staphylococcus, and triclosan-resistant bacteria strains
▪ Nearly 1000 people per year are dying in the UK of MRSA (Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus = Golden Staph). 100,000 people die per year of hospital acquired infections
▪ More than 50% of the staph infections in hospitals are now from MRSA
▪ There are 2 million hospital-acquired infections reported annually in the USA – Approximately 70% of these are resistant to at least 1 antibiotic
▪ 2 expensive antibiotics were tested against MRSA with limited positive effects. The side effects of the antibiotics however were: nausea, vomiting, stains on developing teeth, and potential foetal harm. Science 257:1950
▪ University of Manchester tested Patchouli, Geranium, Melaleuca alternifolia (Tea Tree) and Lavender oils and found them all active against MRSA.
▪ Dr. Eugene Sherry of the University of Sydney tested Melaleuca alternifolia against MRSA and found that it resolved MRSA infections in 22 out of 25 people. (co-authored with H. Bock and P. H. Warnke)
▪ Case Study: There was a man who had a MRSA infection in the bone for 2 years. He was given multiple antibiotics, with no success. The doctors were going to amputate. He heard about phytochemicals, and was put on Eucalyptus radiata, Melaleuca alternifolia, Lemongrass and Clove, and all of the infection was gone in 3 months using these essential oils.
▪ An aerosol mix of oils wiped out tuberculosis, killing it in 40 minutes!
▪ Essential oils studied for their effectiveness against MRSA on PubMed include:
▪ Melaleuca alternifolia, peppermint, geranium, cinnamon, orange, grapefruit, patchouli, lavender, lemongrass, thyme, Eucalyptus radiata, spearmint, lemon, myrtle, clove and mountain savory
▪ “The reason essential oils are so effective is because they are made up of a complex mixture of chemical compounds which the MRSA and other superbug bacteria find difficult to resist.” –Jacqui Stringer, clinical leader of complementary therapies, Christie Hospital, Manchester
▪ Eucalyptus radiata is specific to lungs, and Myrrh is the most highly anti-infectious oil. Putting Myrrh and Eucalypus radiata in a syringe up the rectum is a direct pathway to the lungs in 3 seconds. Myrrh is also great to put on your skin (eg. Face).

My husband had MRSA staph infection, it got into the great toe and 2nd
toe bone. I alternated essential oils daily so the staph would not get
a pattern of the same oil as staph has a unique way of getting a
pattern of medical use and outsmarting it and returning again.

So I put the names of oils on a slip of paper, put them into a hat and
would pull one oil name out each day. I never knew which I would use
either. I alternated between RC, Purification, Thieves, Melrose. I
would fill an empty 00 capsule with the oil and I would rub the same
oil all over the foot and toes.

He also had daily IV Infusion with heavy antibiotics. After 6 weeks
the staph was completely gone. I truly feel it was the oils and God
doing the healing. RC will cross through the skin barrier and go into
the bone and attack staph. Also gave him Clove oil in the OO capsules
to keep his blood thin so he didn’t have to go on blood thinners.

Here is what I have on Staph Infections

A Person who went to the Young Living Clinic was put on the following
treatment schedule. Cleansing Trio – Take 20 drops of Longevity for 4
weeks 3 times a day in a gel cap then switching to Clove, Oregano, &
Thyme 5 drops ea in a cap 3 times a day.

Another recovering from a surgery got a Staph infection, here is what
he did. Thieves, Thyme, Exodus II directly on the wound, this he did
on Wednesday, then 3 times a day then by Friday when the doctor went
to check out his infection, he found no trace, and the wound was
healing fine. Another who read this before commented that if it were
her she would have taken the thieves in a gel cap beside rubbing it on
the wound.

This is what others did, remember what works for others may not work
for you, everyone is different. But it may be worth a try.

I just learned at a health seminar about the effectiveness of R.C.
essential oil blend on staph and MRSA infections. Staph is
everywhere…I’ve contracted it at Sea World and possibly at the gym,
and both times when I was tired and my immune system was down.

When my children had multiple infections last year I gave up on
antibiotics, which were making the infections subside but recur
frequently, and looked for a natural alternative. I learned how to use
a concoction of Supersalve and oregano oil and when I ran out of the
salve I made an ointment out of honey, olive oil and oregano oil. All
three of my children’s infections cleared up, and they did not recur.
I also gave them oregano oil in honey and olive oil orally (I use
coconut oil nowadays.

When I caught Staph last week, I had a tiny painful bump on my leg,
the beginnings of an infection. This time, I put 2 drops R.C. oil and
a drop of oregano on the spot, repeated throughout the day, and what
was a red and painful bump the first day, was flat and dry the
next…I’m so impressed! I will continue the R.C. and take oregano oil
orally this week. I now know that I can disinfect cuts and wounds with
R.C. oil blend which I had previously only used for respiratory
allergies.

Hi Laurie, lemongrass? Also, I would personally
try rectal implants, diluted with mixing oil.  Mary Lou

Eucalyptus Blue, high in limonene 6% and eucaluptol 56.2%, antiviral, and beats
eucalyptus globulus (our old standby.) It can eradicate SARS and other new
bugs, MRSAs.

There is a rampant health destroying microbe in our hospitals that cannot be
seen with the naked eye. Worse yet, it cannot be killed with antibiotics,
hence the “resistant” part of its name. It’s called is methicillin
resistant staphylococcus aureus or MRSA. This bacteria is extremely common
and leads to boils, rashes or necrotizing flesh. Sometimes, a person can
have a rampant internal infection with no external indicators. It is
estimated that an alarming 25 to 30% of the worldwide population has this
bacteria. It was not the broken neck that was the demise of Christopher
Reeves; it was the MRSA infection due to a bed sore. That is where it
started and spread to his bloodstream, then to his organs and ultimately to
his demise.

Young Living’s long time researcher Sue Chao took on MRSA and presented
preliminary research at Convention. 92 single oils, 64 blends and 15 oils
from Ecuador were studied. She used the MRSA strain ATCC 700699 – a nasty
one. The results were astounding. Mind you, this is a super bug that
mainstream medicine cannot treat effectively. What Sue found preliminary
research is exciting – MRSA is defenseless against a few essential oils! In
the cultures with a 30 ìl load (1/2 drop per Petri dish), the Young Living’s
blend of R.C. and the single oil of Lemongrass were triumphant. They killed
100% of the MRSA line in the sample dish. Young Living’s Longevity Oil was
also excellent, so was Eucalyptus Citrodora. More of this research at
different loads will conducted this year, with more to present at Convention
2007! The goal is to publish this research as a peer reviewed study. To
see this presentation, please purchase the Convention 2006 PowerPoint CD’s from www.essentialscience.net.

Taegan writes: School holidays for my children had arrived – which normally means catching lots of nasty little bugs.I arrived at work on Friday feeling like I needed to be home in bed. Noel insisted on setting up the diffuser in the office with Thieves to try and help with my sore throat and thumping head. After about an hour or so, I felt like I could get through the rest of the work day, the thumping in my head had settled to a dull ache but I was slowly loosing my voice. I had to continually repeat myself to clients on the phone which wasn’t helping the situation. Artemis called me and noticed that I wasn’t well and instructed me to make up her “sore throat recipe”. This consisted of a teaspoon of Blue Agave, 1 drop of Melrose and 1 drop of Lemon oil mixed together and licked off the spoon. I did this for the rest of the work day and was able to get through my daily tasks without the need to go home. At the end of the day I asked Noel if I could borrow the office Home Diffuserfor the weekend and he also gave me his Ultrasonic Diffuser. That night when I got home I applied Raven and Myrtle to my chest and throat, made up some moreof “Artemis’ sore throat recipe” and set up the diffusers, one in my living room and the other in my bedroom both with Thieves in them. I continued to have the diffusers going over the weekend and I alternated Raven and Myrtle with R.C on my chest and throat and every few hours made the mixture of Blue Agave, Lemon and Melrose. I arrived at work on Monday feeling back to normal. Usually, it would take me a week or so to get over a head cold and sore throat along with a couple of trips to the local Doctor and a round of anti-biotics.
Raindrop Technique on “Star” the Gelding
A week ago exactly, I had the pleasure of first meeting “Star”. Star is a 23 year old chestnut gelding, who’d been suffering from a severe sinus infection. It had been so bad that the bones of his skull had been pushed out with the swelling, giving him a bulging forehead. His left eye had been swollen, but had gone down by the time I saw him. Now the soft tissue around his right eye (ie. the upper and lower eyelids) were swollen to the size of a golf ball, and his nose had been oozing green gunk. The vet gave 2 options – a $2000 to $4000 operation to drill holes into his sinuses to release the infection (followed by an extended period of confinement) or……and here’s the crunch…….Star would have to be put down. The infection was extremely severe, and the vet didn’t hold out much hope for Star.
Session 1 took place on last Sunday: With the help of his owner (the beautiful Erin, 10 years old), his minders (the fabulous Ben and Kelsie, respectively 14 and 10 years of age), and his carer, (the magnificent Pam, Erin’s grandmother), as well as two other horse-owners who came to support us, we proceeded to give Star a full Raindrop Technique. He had lots of loving hands over him (I taught, and they practiced!). In addition to a standard raindrop technique (which uses Valor, Oregano, Thyme, Basil, Wintergreen, Cypress, Marjoram, Aromasiez and Peppermint oils over his legs and back, applied with Tibetan reflexology movements and modern massage), we also applied Peppermint, Myrtle and Cypress around his right eye (but just the swollen upper lid and side of the eye…..the fumes of peppermint can sting the eye, so I didn’t want to apply it below the eye). We applied a few drops of RC to each nostril, Myrtle to the inside of his ears, and Frankincense on my hands (which he breathed in). His nose (which had been running green goop) was now running clear fluid at the end of this treatment. Two days later Ben phoned me to say that Star was looking a little bit better, and the swelling around his right eye was still there, but reduced in size. (Unfortunately I didn’t take photos of Star at the first or second sessions; I wish I had, to show you what he looked like a week ago!)
Session 2 took place on Wednesday, 3 days after the first session: Star still looked quite ill. The swelling had reduced noticeably along the top and sides of his right eye, however the area underneath his right eye (where I hadn’t applied any oil) was much more swollen and showed the reds of his eyes. The swelling on his forehead appeared to have reduced as well. I applied 6 drops of Immupower to each of his back feet (onto the coronet band), and held it there as in a “valor balance”. After a few minutes, I then proceeded to drip 6 drops of Immupower up Star’s spine, and feathered it in like we do in Raindrop Technique. Ben and I applied Myrtle oil (several drops) to each side of his lungs, and held our hands there for a few more minutes. I felt along Star’s spine, and noticed one of his vertebrae protruding on his back. I applied a few drops each of Wintergreen (for bone pain), Peppermint (for inflammation) and Release (for emotional and muscular release) to that spot. We then applied a few drops of R.C. to his nostrils, a few drops of Peppermint onto his tongue (and more onto the apple he was being fed by Kelsie). I rubbed Purification (for infection) and Cypress (for circulation) around both eyes, making sure I was keeping the oil at least a centimetre or more from the actual eye (so it wasn’t likely to migrate into the eye). This time I included the underneath of the eye (bottom eyelid) in the treatment, since it was so swollen. Unlike the first treatment, Star was very happy to let me rub around his eyes. A drop of pus came out of one eye shortly afterwards – I’ve noticed Purification being excellent for pulling infection out of wounds, so I took this as a good sign. I put Frankincense on my hands, and Star dipped his nose into my hands and breathed deeply for a few minutes. I’ve discovered that he loves the aroma of Frankincense. We finished by giving him a Valor balance (6 drops of Valor onto each of his rear coronet bands). Ben did this, while I dripped Harmony oil up his spine (very good for balancing the chakras), and placed a drop of 3 Wise Men onto his crown (this oil energetically opens us up to healing).
Session 3 took place on Saturday, 6 days after the first session: Star was still looking sick (low energy), but the swelling under his right eye had gone down considerably. You will see in the photo below that it’s still very swollen below his right eye, but it had been almost twice that size on Wednesday. This time his left eye was oozing slightly. We applied Immupower to his rear feet and spine (as in session 2), then repeated with Thieves oil (in the same application as Immupower). I put Frankincense on my hands and Star took another few minutes nuzzling my hands. We applied more Purification around both eyes this time – a side-effect was that it kept the flies away (Purification contains citronella, a natural insect repellent). We also applied RC to the inner nostrils. I didn’t feel like using Peppermint in this treatment.
Session 4 took place on Sunday, 7 days after the first session: What a radical improvement! Star was “perky”, a little irritable and impatient, and was radiating energy and health. Although we could still see some of the pink inside his eye (see below), the swelling under his eye was virtually gone. I wouldn’t have believed he was the same horse, if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes. This time Ben (14 years of age) gave Star a Raindrop Technique all by himself, with me supervising, whilst Pam and Erin practiced on Star’s friend (another gelding). Star looks sleepy in this photo, because it was taken partway through the raindrop technique, when Star had begun to relax and droop his head. I showed Ben how to apply Purification around Star’s eyes (the swelling has gone down so much that it’s barely noticeable), Myrtle (6 drops on each side of Star’s chest), RC (2 drops into each nostril), Peppermint (3 drops on Star’s tongue, followed soon-after by a nice handful of hay to disguise the intense flavour…..although to be honest, Star has never seemed to mind the peppermint). Ben will continue to give Star a Raindrop Technique once a week for the next 4 weeks (making 6 Raindrop Techniques in total), with the application of just Purification, Myrtle and Peppermint in between each Raindrop technique (every second or third day).
I’ll be checking on Star again in about 10 days, but am delighted to see such a turn-around in his health – absolutely amazing! When you consider that we probably used about $90 worth of oils over the 4 treatments, it certainly works out more cost effective than $2000-$4000 for a sinus drill! And from a horse’s point of view, I know which option I’d prefer! And Star loves the oils – he wants to smell every new oil when we bring it over to him, he loves the attention and massage, so we all end up happy at the end of it! Below is a photo taken today (Sunday, session 4) of 14 year old Ben performing Tibetan reflexology (“vitaflex technique) on Star’s legs.
Clearing up a bad skin condition
The following testimonial is reprinted with permission from my sister (Susan Marshall’s) bulletin:
Susan writes: I’ve received a great testimonial from Tania, a participant of my last “Essential Oils for Horses” clinic. Tania enjoyed the clinic and started using the Young Living Essential Oils and their products on her horses and family. Recently one of her horses came down with an awful skin condition. Tania was going to call the vet but decided to first try a home remedy. She used a naturalhorse shampoo with eucalyptus oil and then rinsed the affected areas with Thieves Household Cleaner. In just over a week – from only one
Application.
What an amazing difference in such a short space of time. The face of the horse has completely returned to normal and the rump is showing signs of hair growth again.  Let’s look at the individual products:
1.      “Animal Scents Shampoo” is designed to clean, protect and condition all types of animal fur and hair, without the harmful ingredients often found in pet care products. This all-natural shampoo contains five powerful essential oils, which are blended to gently cleanse, increase luster, and enhance grooming.  It also has insect-repelling properties, and naturally deters lice, ticks, and other insects.
2.      Eucalyptusradiata oil isalso available from Young Living. Have you ever used Eucalyptus lozenges? Then you will know about Eucalyptus oil’s reputation as an anti-bacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory agent. Young Living’s Eucalyptus radiata is cooling, refreshing and energising. Because it is relatively gentle and non-irritating, it is the preferred Eucalyptus variety for use on children and animals. This variety is one of the most versatile of the eucalyptus oils and is suitable for topical use, diffusing and even direct inhalation.
3.      Thieves Household Cleaner is amongst the many products in Young Living’s Thieves range.  Why the name “Thieves”?  Thieves oil blend was inspired from research into a group of 15th century thieves who rubbed oils on themselves to avoid contracting the plague while they robbed the bodies of the dead and dying.  When apprehended, these thieves disclosed the formula of herbs, spices and oils they used to protect themselves in exchange for more lenient punishment. The spices they chose were high in antiviral, antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-infectious constituents, thus affording them a great level of protection from the plague. Young Living makes a range of Thieves products including soap, dental floss, toothpaste, mouthwash, household cleaner and wipes, not to mention the Thieves oil blend.  All that Tania had on her at the time was the household cleaner but as you can see it worked a treat.
Sore Throat and Flu
James writes: I got back from Young Living’s Australian Convention in Brisbane, and one week later on the Sunday I had a very sore throat and felt achy, so I knew the flu was on the way. I did not muck about – I used Thieves Spray on the back of my throat, Thieves oil on my feet, and Eucalyptus radiata oil applied around my throat. I also used empty capsules filled with 4 drops each of Lemon oil and Thieves oil, and I did that twice in 24 hours. I also diffused Purification oil to protect my family, and applied Lemon oil on my back. I applied this treatment on rotation, at least 1 thing every hour, and I took a full day of rest on Monday.
It was amazing – back to work Tuesday, no post viral cough, feeling only very slightly tired – that’s all, no other family members sick. Normally I would be wiped out for the rest of the week. Awesome!!!!
Reyna writes: For a number of years I have been planting lovely creeping plants beside some poles on my veranda, and losing them one by one. Being a new gardener I put it down to my ignorance about soil preparation, over watering etc.
Recently I learned about the parasites called ‘root know nematodes’ and that not only are they very common here in Central Australia, but they attack the roots of plants. “When young nematodes burrow into plant roots their feeding stimulates the production of tumour-like growths and these inhibit the plant’s ability to take up water and nutrients. The result is a weak plant, reduced growth and productivity, and plants also become susceptible to secondary fungal infections and to sudden wilting” (Wikipedia). The mystery solved, I moved into action on my 2 wilting bougainvilleas.
So, I got out my versatile Thieves Household Cleaner and twice daily for a week I added a tablespoon of Thieves Household Cleaner to a 2 litre jug of water and gave each plant 1 litre of this mix. In a week, new growth had appeared and the wilting and weakness had disappeared. Yeah!!! Another garden heartache and costly replacement avoided! Love the oils!
Thieves Spray and a Random Breath Test
Kate writes: A friend of mine left work at 5.30pm one week day, and was pulled over by the Police for a random breath test. She was told she blew the unit “off the scale” and was asked several times when she had her last “drink”. She kept stating that she hadn’t been “drinking” and was on her way home from work to collect her daughter from school. To cut a very long story short, she had just sprayed Thieves Spray into her mouth prior to leaving work. When she thought about it, she passed the Thieves Spray bottle to the police officer who observed the first listed ingredient is “pure alcohol”. With time running short and with the trust of the police officer, she was allowed to move on to make the trip to collect her daughter from school. Just thought the YL community should know about this one.
Artemis adds: This is a great thing to know! Thieves Spray is something I love to have in my handbag, because it is so versatile. I spray it at the back of my throat at the first sign of a sore throat. I spray it on my hands (or use the Thieves Waterless Hand Purifier) after I’ve used a public restroom. I’ve sprayed it on roses that are covered with aphids (and the aphids were dead or gone by the next day). And I use it to clean whiteboards….it’s brilliant!!! If you are new to Young Living, you will be wondering at its name. Young Living has an oil blend called “Thieves”, which is based on a formula of oils that were used by a band of four thieves during the time of the black plague. They anointed themselves with these oils, because of their protective properties, and then they robbed the dead bodies of their belongings. It’s a fascinating part of history, which has given rise to the most amazing blend of essential oils. Young Living has a whole range of products based on Thieves oil, including toothpaste, foaming hand soap and household cleaner.
Child’s Cold, Adult’s Cold
Reyna writes: Recently a flu went through our house. My 11 year old daughter came home from a sleepover and said “I’m getting sick and need to be well in 4 days, what should I take?” (I love the open cheque book approach!) So I said that I would be taking NingXia Red, and capsules of oil (she has not managed to swallow caps before). For the next few hours she took either a Longevity Softgel or 3 drops of Thieves oil in rice milk, hourly. She also took a NingXia Red shot (30mls) every 2-3 hrs (plus drank lots of water and ate a salad). The next morning she woke up 75% better. She kept up the hourly regime all that day and by evening was feeling 100%. What an inspiration! Love my oils.
Kate writes: Yesterday I started to develop a cold with a fever, very sore throat, cough, sniffles etc which was getting worse and worse as the hours went on. As I was trying to sleep (with little success) I remembered your words from the Egyptian Emotional Clearing Technique course about raising your frequency to above that of the infection. I had one drop of peppermint oil (1 drop = 28 cups of peppermint tea – right?). And today it is all but gone! The only symptom I have today is a sore throat from all my coughing last night, the occasional sneeze and some fatigue due to sleep deprivation.  Gooooo Peppermint!
Allergies and Acne-Prone Skin
Trish writes: I have found Peppermint Oil to be amazing for allergy sufferers. They sniff it and stop sneezing, and believe it or not the watery eyes also seem to stop (whereas it gives me watery eyes). Also another great combination for acne prone skin is ART foaming face cleanser with Thieves foaming hand soap. I have made a mix in a empty ART bottle and I no longer get those breakouts around the nose and hairline in our hot humid weather in Queensland – and I have a few younger women with problem skin conditions using this mix with great success!!!!
